Camp of challenges

A group of TCS students faced some of the toughest challenges of the lives at a recent camp designed to build self-confidence.

Sixteen Year 10 to 12 students from around the North Island took part in a five-day camp at the Outdoor Pursuits Camp at Tongariro National Park last term. They participated in rock climbing, caving, rope courses, team problem solving activities and an overnight camp.

TCS teacher, Craig Rofe, attended the camp and says it was fantastic to see the students connect as a team as the camp progressed.

“Some of the students come from isolated parts of the country so it was great to see the group come together and work out problems under pressure and under unusual circumstances,” he says.
